Quality Preschool Proves Pivotal for Local Family

Brenika Preston had a problem. Like many young mothers in Southern Dallas, she couldn’t find good childcare she could afford. Without it, she couldn’t work. And her kids weren’t getting prepared to enter school.

Then Preston discovered First Five, a program that provides high quality preschool to more than 3,000 children in Southern Dallas. Created in partnership with PepsiCo and United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, the program has greatly improved Preston’s life.

Advocate With Us at the Capitol on Wednesday, February 27

Join other United Way volunteers at the Texas Capitol in Austin on Wednesday, February 27 and meet with your state legislators about specific legislation in the areas of education, income and health. Previous advocacy experience is not necessary.

More then 450 guests spent the evening mingling with community leaders, exploring the new North Texas Food Bank campus, engaging in a scarcity game, learning about the need in our community, and assembling Food 4 Kids backpacks.
